As oil marketers had frequently laid the responsibility for the ongoing fuel lines in various regions of Nigeria on the prohibitive price of PMS, it was credibly reported in Abuja that the meeting might result in an increase in the price of gasoline at the pump.  Obasanjo said that selecting a vice president in 1999 was a mistake. Obasenjo Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president, has claimed that selecting a running mate for the 1999 election was a mistake. On Saturday, June 25, he made the remark while speaking in Abeokuta at a leadership and entrepreneurship mentorship event with chosen school pupils. In the 2023 presidential election, Obasanjo, who was elected president in 1999 and 2003, competed alongside Atiku Abubakar, the PDP's current presidential flagbearer. Both broke down under his leadership. Obasanjo said during the leadership program "I don't pretend that I don't make mistakes; I did. But God has never let me down, and that is something that has happened to me. Furthermore, that is crucial.
