Our governorship candidate, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, is still running in Benue APC.

The All Progressives Congress in Benue State has stated that Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, a Catholic priest, will continue to be the party's candidate for governor in the state despite the criticisms that have followed his nomination.

Some governorship candidates running on the platforms of the APC and the state PDP chapter had criticized the procedure that produced the priest, and the PDP had taken the APC to court.

In contrast to the persistent lies peddled by the state's PDP-led administration, Alia remains the party's standard bearer, according to Austin Agada, the state party chairman, who unveiled the party's governorship candidate on Tuesday in Makurdi.

"I want to confirm to everyone's hearing and to the people of Benue that Fr. Hyacinth Alia is the candidate of the APC in the state," Agada stated.

"Just God can change his name as the candidate of our great party, and we think that God has spoken through the people and the party, that Fr. Alia's candidacy is not only the voice of the people of our party, but the voice of the entire Benue population.

"For us as a political party, we have assured the Benue people that we will only carry out their wishes. Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia won the primary elections, which we held.

"I think we need to follow a single path, and that path is to see a reborn Benue State put back on the path of development, not the normal side of propaganda.

"The people out there, who are not politicians, have made it obvious that Fr. Hyacinth Alia is the only candidate they will accept for this position at this time. We firmly believe that we will unite as a political party so as not to let the people of Benue State down.

Agada asserted that the party's candidate for governor is an actual APC member from the state's Vandeikya Local Government Area's Mbadede council ward, and that only he (the party chairman) could vouch for the party's veracity.

The Independent National Electoral Commission received the party's membership registers from all 23 of the state's local government units, according to the state party chairman.

The 23 membership registration forms for our great party have been presented to INEC, I say this really for confirmation," Agada stated.
