Senators from the APC and Adamu meet to prevent members from defecting.

APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu

Adamu Abdullahi, the APC's national chairman, met with the senators of the party on Wednesday.

A few minutes after two o'clock, Adamu arrived at the National Assembly building and made his way to the office of Senate President Ahmed Lawan for a quick meeting before the general assembly.

The meeting will start at 2 p.m. at the venue, Lawan had earlier announced while reading the letter signed by Ajayi Borofice, the Senate Deputy Majority leader.

During the plenary, two senators from the states of Bauchi and Imo resigned from the All Progressives Congress and the People's Democratic Party, respectively.

The lawmakers are Senator Ezenwa Francis Onyewuchi, who represents the Imo East Senatorial District and was elected on the PDP platform, and Senator Dauda Jika, who represents Bauchi Central and was elected on the APC platform.

Both Senators informed Lawan in separate letters that they had decided to leave the APC and PDP and join the Labour Party and the New Nigeria Peoples Party, respectively.
