Tinubu’s men woo parties without presidential candidates, others

Tinubu's men court other parties and organizations without presidential candidates.

Supporting Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress's presidential candidate, have begun discussions and negotiations with other political parties that do not have presidential candidates.

On Monday, it was learned that the support organizations, which are based in the South-West but also have members in other geographical regions, are thinking about forming alliances with the parties in an effort to win their support for Tinubu's candidacy.
This information was provided in a chat with our correspondent by Senator Adesoji Akanbi, the Deputy National Chairman of the South-West Agenda for Asiwaju 2023.

"What we are attempting to achieve with the coalition is that a lot of people are dissatisfied with their parties, maybe due to illegal primaries, and they moved to other parties," said Akanbi, who organized the Coalition Movement for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a support group centered in Oyo State. Not just parties, but these individuals as well, are our primary targets.

He responded, "They are even our major objective," when asked about those who felt wronged by the APC. They may have left the APC as a result of their governors. We are attempting to appease them so they will run for any office in any other party, but they should cooperate with us and back Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

"Since they are now on another platform, we are not asking them to support all of the APC candidates. Why can't they cooperate with us rather than waste their votes and energies on presidential candidates (of their new parties) with whom they have no prior relationship?

Although not every one of the 18 political parties registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission has fielded a presidential candidate, Akanbi pointed out that most of them have.
"Even those who have fielded candidates, the state chapters of some of them do not take the candidates into account since they (the parties) lack the means to take care of the chapters," the statement continued. Thus, if Asiwaju wins the election, they may cooperate with us knowing that he will value them, he stated.
