Yakubu AbdulMumuni, a 28-year-old escapee from the Kuje Correctional Center, was apprehended by Ogun State Police Command personnel.

The culprit was taken into custody at Sango-Ota, which is part of the state's Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state's police public relations officer, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday.

AbdulMumuni, who was sentenced to Kuje prison in Kogi State after being found guilty of conspiracy and culpable homicide, was apprehended on Monday by members of the state police command, according to Oyeyemi.

Yakubu AbdulMumuni, a 28-year-old escapee, was apprehended when police at the Sango Ota divisional headquarters received intelligence that he had been spotted nearby, according to Oyeyemi.

As soon as he received the information, SP Saleh Dahiru, the DPO for the Sango-Ota Division, mobilized his men and moved to the spot where the inmate was captured.

"He admitted to the police that on July 5, 2022, when the Kuje Correctional Center was besieged by robbers, he broke out and fled.
"He further alleged that he was sentenced to the Kuje Correctional Center after being found guilty of conspiracy and culpable homicide by the Kogi State High Court."

However, the PPRO said that CP Lanre Bankole, the commissioner of police, had directed the state criminal investigation department to expedite the convict's transportation to the penitentiary facility with immediate effect.
