Respecting human rights, AIG imposes fees on new Abia constables

New police constables have been ordered to respect the rights of the populace by Isaac Akimoyede, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 9 in Umuahia, Abia State.

The AIG warned the 444 constables at a passing out parade held at the police training school in Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, to act with professionalism, justice, loyalty, fairness, and honesty in the performance of their duties.

Akimoyede warned that the force would punish anyone who committed an act that damaged the organization's reputation for security.

The AIG addressed the 444 graduates, stating, "I congratulate you and deliver you goodwill messages from the Inspector-General of Police.

"Let me reiterate how crucially important security is to our society. The freshly graduated constables, who spent six months receiving comprehensive all-around training as General Duties Officers, have a total of 444 recruits, of which 247 are men and 197 are women.

"Let me remind you that graduation from the training college signifies the beginning of a career in the Nigerian Police Force. I also offer you advice on the ethics of the police vocation, which include discipline, professionalism, loyalty, fairness, justice, and honesty. They continue to be your watchwords if you want to succeed.

The Abia State Governor charged the constables to perform their police duties with conscience while being represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Chris Ezem.
