The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd)

On Tuesday, suspected terrorists ambushed the car convoy carrying the Presidency's advance team of security guards, protocol officials, and media officers near Dutsinma, Katsina State, killing two policemen in the process.

Before the President, Muhammadu Buhari (ret. ), visited his hometown for Sallah, Presidency officials were traveling to Daura.

Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, confirmed the incident in a statement but did not provide a specific number of casualties.

"The Presidency has described as sad and unwelcome, the shooting incident near Dutsinma, Katsina State, at the convoy of cars carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol, and media officers ahead of the President, Muhammadu Buhari's trip to Daura for Sallah," according to the statement titled "Gallant presidential guards repel attack on advance team ahead of President's visit."

The military, police, and DSS employees who were with the convoy were able to repel the terrorists who began fire on it from ambush positions.

"Two convoy members are being treated for minor injuries they sustained. All other personnel, employees, and vehicles arrived at Daura without incident.

However, the Police Area Commander for Dutsinma, Aminu Umar, and another person were reported to have died in the ambush by the Katsina State Police Command's spokesman, Gambo Isah, in a separate statement.

Isah left out from his statement that the presidential team was the target of the attack.

"Today (Tuesday), July 5, 2022 at around 11.30am, a distress call was received that terrorists, numbering over 300, were ambushing ACP Aminu Umar, Area Commander, Dutsinma, and team, while on clearance operation of recalcitrant bandits/terrorists, in Zakka Forest, Safana Local Government Area of Katsina state.

"As a result, the Area Commander and another brave person were killed in a cross-fire of gunfire.

"On behalf of the officers and members of the command, the commissioner of police, Idrisu Dauda, sends his sincere condolences to the family of the dead and prays to almighty Allah to lay their bodies to rest in Jannatul Firdausi.

During a meeting with business executives at the White House, US President Joe Biden unintentionally displayed a "cheat sheet" with simple instructions on where to sit and what to do. Biden mistookly handed the list of directions to the photographers, which stated to "take YOUR seat," "YOU deliver brief comments," and "YOU go." The 79-year-old, who is said to have early-stage dementia, was also told to speak with some attendees, engage them in conversation, and thank them before departing. Major worries about the President's wellbeing and mental capacity as he approaches 80 have been raised as a result of his errors.
