why I selected Shettima to be my running mate — Tinubu

Ahmed Bola Tinubu

Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, claimed on Sunday in Daura that he picked Kashim Shettima, the former governor of Borno State, as his running mate because he is "capable and loyal."

This came as he asserted that the APC is prepared to serve and has a better plan for the nation.

Soon after paying the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret. ), a visit at his Daura residence in Katsina State, Tinubu made this statement.

He said in a statement shortly after a private meeting with the President that he chose Shettima as his running mate because "he is competent, capable, and reliable."

Regarding the reason for his visit, he stated, "We came to honor him (Buhari) and to partake in a meal and a portion of his festival. And to talk about the issue of my actual running mate.

"The person we placed has withdrawn today," A decision has been made to completely replace him with Kashim Shettima, a strong contender.

The former governor of Lagos State responded, "We are going to win, insha Allah," when asked about his party's prospects in the next presidential elections. because our party is progressive. We are keeping our attention on the issues in Nigeria, tackling the situation head-on, and not backing away. For the people and with the people, we have a better program, and we are ready to serve.

"Within a short time, a solid infrastructure base was established. We are aware that terrorism presented a challenge to us. Only a mediocre observer and thinker would fail to see the difficulty. But once you're aware of the difficulty, you may well organize your efforts to meet and overcome it. And that is the main focus of our party.

Ibrahim Masari, the APC candidate's running mate in the presidential race, announced his resignation from the party earlier on Sunday.

"This is to inform our esteemed party leaders under our able President, Muhammadu Buhari, teeming party members, and the great people of Nigeria, of the outcome of a crucial discussion I just had with the flagbearer of our great party, the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu," Masari wrote in a letter he signed and addressed to APC members.

I had the distinct honor and privilege of being chosen as Asiwaju Tinubu's running mate last month during a hotly contested presidential primary ahead of the main election in 2023.

"However, after considerable thought and extensive deliberation, I now wish to resign. I recognized that Asiwaju will have more freedom because of my decision to provide more inclusiveness and accommodation, which will strengthen our party to win the incoming election with the help of Nigerians.

"By standing aside, I feel I can still contribute to our party and the nation in a number of other ways.

"I want to confirm that I have given my resignation letter and affidavit to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the vice-presidential candidate in the upcoming elections."

Terrorists trooping southward, Akeredolu cries out

Akeredolu shouts out as terrorists advance in the south. Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu The governor of Ondo State, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, has warned that terrorists are heading south to seek shelter in the bush. He emphasized once more the requirement for the establishment of a state police force to protect people and property. The Nigeria Police Force, according to Akeredolu, is overworked, understaffed, and unable to appropriately protect the populace.
